A couple of weeks ago, my girls and I volunteered for the entire weekend at the Las Vegas Pirate Festival. We helped last year and agreed that we had a wonderful time, so when the opportunity came up to volunteer again this year, we jumped on it! Las Vegas is a special kind of town, so in addition to it being a “pirate” festival, it included steampunk and fairies as well. SO MUCH FUN!
Zoey opted to be a pirate. Here she is as “Ruby Redhawk.”
Sydni wanted to grace the land of the fairies, and she went as “Violet Dewdrops.”
I went the steampunk route, and although I didn’t get a full shot of my outfit, it was cute. My name was “Martina Chuzzlewit.” Bonus points if you comment with the source of that name!
We helped all weekend with a “treasure map hunt” for the kids attending the festival. We helped them find their pirate names, walk the plank, and cast spells of protection against the pirate king (among other things). We also roamed around and had a lot of fun!
We made friends and enjoyed an amazing weekend of sunshine and shenanigans. I fell head-over-heels in love with Las Vegas while sitting there looking at this:
Pandora here was one of the good friends we made. She might be a parrot, but she is a sweet one! Hopefully we will see her (and volunteer again, if we can) at pirate fest next year!
