Conversation with a Monkey

I run upstairs to use the bathroom this morning and find it occupied by one adorable little Monkey girl, who is happily singing The Wheels on the Bus to her Barbie doll.

“Monkey, are you finished yet? Mommy needs to use the potty.”

“No mommy, I have to poop. It’s a mama poop.”

“A ‘mama’ poop?”

“Yes. It’s a big mama poop.”

Hmmm…I guess there are a couple of ways I can take that statement and neither option is especially flattering to me. Either a) mamas are big, or b) mamas have big poops. I guess both of those statements can be true. Monkey let’s me know she is done momentarily.

“I done Mommy. Wipe my booty-booty.”

“Your ‘booty?’ Where did you learn that word?”

“I dunno….Daddy.”

“Nice.”

I wipe the “booty-booty” and send her on her way. She is still in her footsie pj’s and I hear her slip a little bit on her way down the wooden steps.

“Be careful Monkey!”

“I won’t!”

OY! It’s going to a be a long snowy day. :-D

  1. silly girl!

  2. That’s too funny!!! She is sooooo cute.

  3. Alayna says “booty” too, drives me nuts. I asked her where she learned that and she said they are not allowed to say “butt” at Kindercare so I guess some other girls say “booty” that she picked up on, I tell her not to say it.
