Virtual Frog Dissection and a Composer Study Gem

I found a few cool resources that I wanted to share. The first is a free CD-ROM for frog dissection. Students can perform a realistic dissection with a digital scalpel. Digital Frog Dissection also comes with teacher and student workbooks (PDF Format) which you can find here: frog dissection workbooks.

The other dandy is for composer study and was posted on the Ambleside Online Yahoo group, so I am sure some of you have seen or used it. AO is doing Russian composers this term and Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherezade was our first selection. We actually enjoy it so much we haven’t moved on just yet, though we need to! Anyway, there is an interactive story, complete with games about Scheherezade and the 1001 Arabian Nights. Both Super-boy and Diva enjoyed it VERY much and played it twice through. It definitely made the music come alive for them.

Enjoy!

  1. Love the dissection on CD instead of in person. I hated that soooo much. *gross*

Will have to check out the composers. Glad the kids are embracing this with so much passion.

  2. How i hated dissecting in school. Tink would never do it but Peter would love it. If only I could stomach it.

Im going to look into that composer study! It looks like something I could use. Thanks.

  3. We had this at my old school and it was so cool. We only had a sample version, so it would not let you do much. But I still thought it was cool.
