A banner day!

We had the ‘bestest’ day today, according to Diva.
We met with a group of homeschoolers are our local Caribou coffee. It was our first time meeting with them and I was expecting about 4-5 moms. Honestly. I was so wrong!
There were about 25 parents there, and at least 40 [...]

What’s Next?

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – An elementary school has banned tag on its playground after some children complained they were harassed or chased against their will.
“It causes a lot of conflict on the playground,” said Cindy Fesgen, assistant principal of the Discovery Canyon Campus school.
Running games are still allowed as long as students don’t chase each [...]

I promise

I am not turning into a video blogger. LOL. But the Proverbs Wife, whose blog I greatly admire, posted this incredible video set to my favorite Casting Crowns song. I was so moved by this. The song brings me to tears on a regular basis, but seeing it with the ‘choreography’ [...]

My Favorite Ron Paul Video

If you haven’t at least Googled Ron Paul, do yourself a favor and do that now. I am a registered Democrat folks. I have never voted for a Republican in my life. A friend spoke to me about Ron Paul and I took her advice and Googled his name. I think [...]

The Bouncing Egg Experiment, Day 1

We started our bouncing egg experiment this afternoon. The kids seems pretty mesmerized and keep going into the kitchen to check on the progress of the “bubbly” egg.
I am documenting each day of the experiment. One egg is in vinegar, the other egg is a ‘control egg’ in water. LOL…control egg.

The first day of public school…

I didn’t think I would be much affected by the first day of public school, but I was wrong. I’ve had a strange knot in my stomach all day. I am no longer among the ranks of my friends and neighbors who sent their kids off this morning with clean and shiny faces, [...]

Field Trip!

We celebrated the first day of public school by spending our day at the National Gallery of Art. Hooray! Lonnie took a comp day and joined us which made the day even more special. Plus, it’s pretty gorgeous outside for being the last week of August, and we have to take advantage [...]

Crab Soccer

As promised, I am finally posting a PE game geared for homeschool families!
Crab Soccer is essentially one-on-one soccer with the players moving in a crab position rather than being upright. The players still need to kick, dribble, play defense, etc. This is an excellent way to build upper body strength!
Number of players: 2 [...]

Our schedule and other odds and ends

Well, we are at the end of our first week of homeschooling. I have learned so much! For the first time in my life, I can recognize Lake Superior without reading a labeled map. How’s that for educating myself along with the kids?? “Paddle-to-the-Sea” is one amazing book and I am [...]

Nature Walking!

I am so completely and utterly decimated that I barely have the hand strength to type this. I am behind on laundry like you would not believe….
My couch is no longer a couch, but a resting place for washed and dried laundry that needs to be folded and put away. I have crumbs [...]
