I really am quite the night owl. Once the kids are in bed, and my darling husband has hoisted himself off to dreamland, the night quiets and it becomes my witching hour. I get so much done it is truly amazing!
As a matter of fact, I have just finished loading the dishwasher, hand washing the pots and pans, wiping down the kitchen counters, folding some laundry and tidying the family room. Now I am sitting here, typing this up while I listen to the gentle whirring of the bread machine. I am making cinnamon rolls for breakfast tomorrow and I decided to let the machine do the work of mixing, kneading and rising for me.
The night is my time to think and reflect, to glance over my to-do list for tomorrow and start thinking about how we will squeeze in some learning for the day. I want summer to be fun and feel like summer vacation, but I don’t want them getting too lazy. The last thing I need is a battle when it’s time to really kick into high gear. So far they have made no protests at any of the things I have introduced and little methods have folded into our daily routine with ease. Cole even did some copy work off of the chalkboard yesterday and thought nothing of it. He used excellent penmanship, spelled all the words correctly, and didn’t miss a comma, period, or capital letter. I might even scan the page in later so you can admire his first bit of copy work too. It’s one sentence, but it’s one he has never seen before and usually his handwriting is atrocious. I think the fact that it was only one sentence encouraged him to do his best.
We are off to the library tomorrow for some new books and music. Sydni asked for a book about tidal pools last week and our branch didn’t have any. So I requested “Pagoo” by Holling C. Holling and it’s waiting for us now. Plus, the Mozart Fantasy CD that we checked out last week had no disc in it, and Sydni left her baby doll Emma and I am hoping she made her way to the lost and found box.
Good night everyone, and happy Monday!

I love the silent of the night =0. Everything is calm.
Good luck for your library trip =)
I don’t usually get to enjoy solitude at night since Jay is a night owl. I love to sneak downstairs in the mornings before anyone is up and grab a cup of coffee, etc in quiet. These days are few and far between but I love the way my day seems focused beyond all others when they do happen.
Might I add……..cinnamon rolls………..*drool*
